This blog is meant to act as a repository of art for the Painting 210 class. We should all regularly post images of work we think might be relevant and helpful to the rest of the class. Use this as a space to view and discuss paintings you might otherwise not have known. Working together, we can enlarge our ideas about figure painting and become more attuned to the variety of ways in which the concepts discussed in class can be applied.
I think I posted a master study of the top image, two figures by seascape, by mistake. It's an awesome painting, but the only other image I can find of it is microscopic. He's my favorite of the three major bay area painters, the other two being Richard Diebenkorn and David Park. These guys breathed new life into figure painting with their gestural styles and changed the way we think about paint. They deserve some respect.
