Paul Cezanne, Self-Portrait with Rose Background, 1875
I really like this self-portrait a lot. He uses mostly bright colors, especially in the background, even though it's a little hard to see the shapes. This was one of my choices that I was going to do for the final master copy in the first half of the semester. The master copy I'm talking about was the one in which we had to use the same way the painting has, but we had to place ourselves in the work instead of the artist. When you look at this painting and my self-portrait from the critique yesterday, it almost look like the temperature on the face it the same, even though these are in different positions.
